Employment Type:  Full-Time

Role Overview

The Bioinformatics Scientist leads scientific model definition, feature selection, biological validation, and interpretability for a regulated diagnostics platform. This role is responsible for defining what the models do from a scientific and biological perspective, while engineering teams determine how those models are implemented and run in production. The position works closely with machine learning engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure scientific rigor, clinical relevance, and translational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate biological and statistical models supporting diagnostic and prognostic use cases.

  • Define feature sets, biomarkers, and scientific logic grounded in biological relevance.

  • Interpret model outputs and benchmark results against clinical outcomes and datasets.

  • Support expansion of models across multiple cancer types and indications.

  • Collaborate with machine learning engineers to translate scientific models into production-ready systems.

  • Contribute to scientific documentation, validation materials, and interpretability narratives.

  • Participate in data review, model refinement, and performance assessment discussions.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related scientific fields.

  • Strong background in biological data analysis and statistical modeling.

  • Experience working with genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, or related biological datasets.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate scientific results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams on applied model development.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to scientific rigor and reproducibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with oncology or cancer-related datasets.

  • Familiarity with clinical data and outcome-based validation.

  • Experience supporting translational research or diagnostic development.
